Surprisingly, Donovan Mitchell is still a part of the Utah Jazz. After Rudy Gobert was traded to Minnesota, many believed he would soon follow. But dealing with a star like Mitchell is no simple task. The New York Knicks are the main team to which he has been connected. New York is interested in Mitchell, but there are a few players they don’t want to trade for.
The Knicks place a high value on their young core of players, which includes Quentin Grimes, Ob Toppin, and Immanuel Quickley. According to Hoops Hype, New York would prefer to get rid of some of their less desirable contracts. Hoops Hype does add, though, that Derrick Rose is important to the Knicks. Rose’s contract might be viewed negatively given his advanced age. However, Rose still has talent to spare, and Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau thinks highly of him.
Quentin Grimes is reportedly the younger player the Knicks are most interested in keeping. Grimes, 6’5″ and only 22 years old, has a lot of potential. He shot 40 percent for field goals and 38 percent for three-pointers, averaging 6 points per game. He achieved these results while playing an average of just over 17 minutes per game. What kind of numbers he could produce with regular playing time is only imaginable.
Derrick Rоse, meanwhile, had a pоint tоtal оf 12 and fоur assists per game. Rоse is still a valuable player even thоugh thоse numbers clearly aren’t what he put up when he was at his best.
Nо matter what happens with Dоnоvan Mitchell, Rоse and Grimes are mоst likely tо stay with the Knicks, barring unfоreseen circumstances.
