The matter has not been resolved after more than a year since the allegations against Deshaun Watson were made. His situation is expected to clear up now that he’s with the Cleveland Browns, at least on the football side of things.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell commented on the Deshaun Watson situation in a recent report by Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. While Goodell was unable to provide a specific timeline for when a punishment would be determined or imposed, he stated that the “end” was near.
“I can’t give you a timeline (for a possible suspension),” Goodell said at the end of the meeting during a press conference. “We’re nearing the end of the investigation, and then our disciplinary officer will handle it.”
This statement comes after the Browns quarterback’s lawyer stated that the NFL would make a decision in the coming months based on his findings. According to him, the NFL will make a decision by the end of the summer, if not sooner.
When the Browns gаve up а lаrge trаde pаckаge to аcquire Deshаun Wаtson in Mаrch, they knew they were getting themselves into а mess. They’ll find out whаt it entаils soon enough.
