UFC on March 6, sources told ESPN, is finalizing a light heavyweight match between former title challenger Thiago Santos and Aleksandar Rakic.
The promotion did not officially announce an event on the 6 March date, nor did it offer a venue. Sources said that the 205-pound matchup will consist of three rounds and not serve as the headliner of the event.
Santos (21-8) at UFC Fight Night last weekend in Las Vegas is fresh off a submission loss to Glover Teixeira. It was the first fight for Santos since he challenged Jon Jones in July 2019 for the light heavyweight championship. In a split decision, Santos lost to Jones and sustained a severe knee injury during the fight.
