Though it might have involved a franchise- and league-changing move, the Los Angeles Angels had a relatively quiet MLB trade deadline. Shohei Ohtani, a two-way star for the Angels, was the subject of trade rumors after the team informed other teams that they were considering offers for the American League MVP in 2021.
Ohtani reportedly stayed put until the deadline because owner Arte Moreno reportedly didn’t even want to consider trade proposals. He didn’t appear overly concerned about the possibility of leaving the Angels, despite the rumors. His most recent remarks are also not very enlightening.
“Things are different from earlier in the season when we were winning. We became sellers because of this. Of course, as a team, you can’t keep up the positive attitude you had when you were aiming for the postseason.
The Angels’ morale appears to be at an all-time low. Shohei Ohtani’s admission that it’s “hard to remain motivated” is alarming, especially in light of rumors that his future in Los Angeles may be in jeopardy.
Ohtani, who was acquired by the Angels prior to the 2018 season, has yet to have a successful campaign in the majors. The most painful year by far was this one. LA was in first place in their division after about a month of competition.
With Ohtani and Mike Trоut, speculatiоn abоut the Angels finally making the pоstseasоn picked up. At the MLB trade deadline, the team ultimately decided tо sell.
Better hоpe the Angels start winning sооn. If nоt, Shоhei Ohtani will leave thrоugh the dооr.
