Police suspect a British woman was killed by her aristocratic Spanish husband, who then turned the pistol on himself in a murder-suicide at their property in a posh Madrid neighbourhood.
Katherine Travers, a mother of three, was reportedly murdered at a gated house in Pozuelo de Alarcon, west of Madrid, by Jorge Juliá Dez de Rivera.
Ms Travers, 59, was embroiled in a violent divorce fight with the Marquis of Cirella, a 66-year-old former pilot with a licence to keep three guns and an avid hunter.
Ms Travers had established a new connection with a guy in Britain, according to the marquis, whose title dated back to the 17th century.
Ms Travers, a flight attendant, had lived in Spain for many years before returning to London to start a new life.
