Harry Morton— the Pink Taco eateries’ 38-year-old owner and the son of Peter Morton, co-founder of the Hard Rock Cafe — died.
Morton passed away on Saturday at his $25 million home in Beverly Hills, a family-owned property once run by Elvis Presley.
The source added that the restaurateur had dined in good spirits with the Morton family, including his uncle, the day before.
“The family of Harry is devastated. They believe that his sudden death has to do with an unforeseen medical issue, but it’s too early to say,” added the source.
The Office of the Los Angeles County Sheriff has announced the investigation of Beverly Hills Police.
Morton worked for years for his father’s Hard Rock Cafe chain. In addition to his taco restaurants, he also owned Hollywood’s Viper Room, the nightclub where Joaquin Phoenix’s brother, River Phoenix, fatally overdosed in 1993. Harry bought the Viper Room in 2008.
His grandfather, Arnie Morton, co-founded the famed Morton’s Steakhouse chain.
Morton romantically linked over the years to everyone from Lindsay Lohan to Demi Moore and Jennifer Aniston.
Morton’s half-sister, model Domino Harvey, died of a drug overdose in 2005. The pair shared the same mother.
