Lisa Banes, who is she? You probably noticed a tribute honoring her memory at the beginning of tonight’s new episode of The Orville.

Like Norm Macdonald, Banes was a very talented performer who tragically passed away before the show’s release on Hulu. She portrays Speria Balask in the current episode of “Gently Falling Rain,” and she is currently scheduled to make at least one more appearance in later episodes of the season. She has appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows overall, but Gone Girl may be her most well-known role. Nashville, Royal Pains, One Life to Live, Six Feet Under, and NCIS are just a few of her other TV appearances. She was also well-known for her stage performances.

Banes tragically passed away in a hit-and-run incident last year, which made some news at the time.
