“Twenty-Five Twenty-One,” Netflix’s latest Korean romance drama, follows Na Hee-Do (Kim Tae-ri) and Baek Yi-Jin (Nam Joo-Hyuk) as they embark on a budding friendship-turned-romance at various stages of their lives. The story alternates between the 1990s and 2021, with the majority of the action taking place over a four-year period starting in 1998, when Hee-Do is 16 and Yi-Jin is 20. (The characters’ ages are given as 18 and 22, but this is due to the fact that in Korea, babies are considered one year old on the day they are born, and then one year older on New Year’s Day, so their Korean age is one or two years older than their international age.)
