The content of the streaming service, which debuted in the spring of 2020 and is home to all of HBO’s timeless classics and many of the hottest TV shows currently airing, is undergoing a significant change.
Streamers have become a hot topic in general recently; so far this year, Netflix has seen a significant decline in its subscriber base and employee layoffs. Once regarded as the industry leader in streaming services, there have been reports of dubious memos sent to staff members and attempts to cancel upcoming programming deals in an effort to cut costs.
What’s Going On With HBO Max?
Yesterday, it was revealed that the relatively new streaming service would soon be implementing a number of changes.
Variety reported that several films starring a number of well-known actors and actresses had been taken off the streaming platform.
The source made Warner Bros. known. The movies had been taken down by Discovery. The company had selected HBO Max as their official “home” for streaming, and several of the titles bore the name of Warner Brothers.
The streaming service appears to be copying Netflix’s strategy as Variety noted that the changes were probably an effort to cut costs for the streamer.
