The wrongful death case against Marion “Suge” Knight was declared a mistrial in a Compton court on Wednesday after jurors stated they lacked the nine votes necessary to reach a decision. The case was brought by the family of a man who was run over and killed by the former rap mogul with a pickup truck in Compton in 2015.
Knight was found responsible by a unanimous 7-5 vote of the jury. Judge Thomas Long of the Compton Superior Court took the necessary action by announcing a mistrial.
Following an altercation near a “Straight Outta Compton” promotional shoot on January 24, Knight, 56, entered a no contest plea to voluntary manslaughter in September 2018.
